News from Precious Beginnings... If you love newborn babies and love shopping for them, you should consider joining Good Shepherd's "Precious Beginnings."  We buy, sew knit or crochet items to make up a layette to bring baby home from the hospital.  We meet on the last Thursday of the month at 10:30 am.

I want to thank everyone who donates to our group.  We have been making up to 20 layettes a month.  These layettes go to babies very much in need.  With your help, we can give them a bright beginning in God's world.  Below are pictures of our work and our workers.  Bernadine Murray

Irv Dohner, the Musical Director and Organist at Good Shepherd was recently presented with a beautiful coss stitched piece (crafted by Sharan Beverly) for all of his many contributions to our musical ministry. Scott Proctor, the Senior Warden made the presentation along with Canon Jones, Fr. Murray and Sharan.

Sisters In The Savior Meeting                                                                        October 6, 2011

Present:  Kathy Jones, Bernadine Murray, Joan Allen, Diane Corbett, Jean Schmaus, Ginny Kubik, Billy Greer, Diane Brescia, Sharan Beverly, Bradley Lewis, Canon Jones.

The luncheon meeting was started at 12 Noon, with a prayer by Bradley Lewis.

Jan McCarvill has taken on a new full-time job and has resigned from the Literacy Council.  Therefore, the Literacy Council Book Sale that was scheduled for November has been cancelled.

Diane Corbett gave us information about the up-coming Vendor Fair.  So far, we have 9 vendors committed.  Advertising will be in the newspaper (Save the Date and Where We Worship) by Diane Corbett, and on the radio (WEZV) by Sharan.  Bradley will put info in the North Myrtle Beach Times; Jean will do the same in the Myrtle Beach Herald. Canon Jones will put it on the church Web Site.  He also suggested that we put “flyers” on grocery store bulletin boards. Billie will check to see how we can place an advertisement on the public TV channel.  Diane Brescia will make postcards with info for mail outs. The “Bake Sale” proceeds shall go to the church, rental fees and proceeds from lunch sales will go to SIS. Rental fees for vendors are $50.00 inside table, $40.00 outside table.  Lunch will consist of small sandwiches, grapes, chips, and a drink.  Vendors will be offered lunch for free.  Jean, Joan, and Billy will be in charge of the food set-up and sales; the “Bake Sale” will be manned by Ginny and Bernadine; Kathy will be responsible for the change fund.  The set-up of tables, etc., will be Thursday, Nov. 3rd at Noon.*

Moving on, the minutes of Sept. 8th were read and a motion was made by Bradley to accept, Kathy seconded.

Comments were made regarding the new hospitality schedule and it was suggested and voted on that we return to the “old way” of doing sign up. However, we all agreed that we should let the new schedule cycle through once, as a test, and take the matter up again in January.

The floor was opened for nominations for new officers.  Diane Brescia and Joan Allen were nominated for President, both declined.  Bradley Lewis accepted the office for another year.  Kathy Jones accepted the office of Treasurer for another year, and Diane Brescia accepted the office of Secretary.

Kathy gave the Treasurer’s Report – so far 54 Cookbooks have been sold.  The SIS account has $1,388.37, $976.24 for SIS, and $412.13 for paper products and supplies.  Dues have been collected from 12 members.  Kathy will forward our contribution to the Archbishop’s Fund at the end of the year in May.

It was suggested that Diane Corbett be made Publicity Chairperson for all of SIS activities. She is doing such a good job of getting the word out about the Vendor Fair.

No further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 1:25 with a prayer by Bradley.

*Since this meeting, the Vendor Fair has been cancelled due to lack of commitment from vendors.

Choir Notes by Irv Dohner…May the music you hear at Good Shepherd Anglican Church be a blessing to all who worship here. We have an open invitation to any member of Good Shepherd who enjoys “making music” to join us in this great opportunity to serve the Lord.

Listen to our joyful noise at the "Choir" page in this website.

John and Sue Ellen Mauchamer recently moved to Montgomery, Texas.  Both have been very active in the parish life of Good Shepherd.  They will be greatly missed !  May God's richest blessings follow you always.

Jim Vinson and his grandson, Michael (Mikey) were recently baptized at Good Shepherd.  Welcome to our church and to the greater community of Christ!
